Hello Kasia:
What a mistress of the art of antiquing you are!

We are truly amazed at what you have achieved with Venus who looks as if she has been lurking for centuries.

The process sounds to be very messy, but the results are fabulous!!

Pozdrawiam serdecznie:)

That looks GREAT! I'm thinking a tutorial would be just awesome. I'd love to know the process... What did you start with?... Was it some kind of stone?

Huggies,
Spencer

Welcome and thank you for all the sweet comments.
Some of you have asked about the candle - glue method. Ill gladly share with you all on hot to get this done.
Any figure that you would plan to redo; whether it be wood, ceramic or stone; you must cover with a thin film of glue. (I use weldbond) I make sure to cover and fill in every crevice.
I then wait a couple of hours until the glue sets in and dries completely. Then repeat again, adding layer after layer (3or4 times) Depending on what effect you want.

When the figurine dries for the last time, I light a candle, usually a thin long one. And basically roast the figurine over the candle, making sure I get every spot completely. You will realize that there will be a thin layer of soot forming on every part you touched with the flame, but be careful not to burn it literally! There should be no bubbles that you can see forming as a result of burning. (Unless you specifically wnat that desired effect, which is nice too) When we finish the whole figure we wait about 1 hour until everything dries and cools out. And then we wipe and polish with a soft rag until it gets shiny in places :)
If I think its not enough, I repeat the whole process again (but add only one layer of glue at a time) Sometimes, I smoke it already polished without adding a glue layer, it totally depends!

The more layers of glue, the more cracks, but you must be careful to not add TOO much. That balance we learn with practice.

I hope I have explained this in enough detail for everyone to find easy to follow. If not, ask away!

I wish you all a great day!

Witam i dziekuje za slodkie komentarze.
Niektorzy z Was pytaja co to jest ta metoda swiecy i kleju.Chetnie powiem jak ona wyglada.Otoz;
Kazda figurke czy z drewna czy z ceramiki czy kamienia.Smarujemy cieka warstwa klejem (ja uzywam Weldbond) ,cala dokladnie w kazdym zakamarku.Czekam kilka godzin az klej dokladnie wyschnie i smaruje jeszcze raz i czekam az znowu wyschnie.i tak 3 -4 razy w zaleznosci jaki chce uzyskac efekt.
To juz z praktyki sami zobaczycie.
Serdecznie pozdrawiam zyczac Wam slicznego dnia!
